About this tool

A QR code stores text such as a web address, a phone number or a WhatsApp link. A phone camera reads it and offers to open it. They are handy on menus, shop windows, visiting cards and posters.

The code is drawn in your browser. It contains your text directly, so it never expires and there is no tracking or redirect. Higher error correction makes the code still readable if it is scratched or has a logo placed over it, but it also makes the pattern denser.

Keep strong contrast between the dots and the background, with the dots darker, and leave the blank border around the code. Always test a printed code with a phone before you use it widely.

Questions

Does the QR code expire?

No. The text is stored in the pattern itself, so it works for as long as the link or text is valid.

How do I make a WhatsApp QR code?

Enter a link of the form https://wa.me/ followed by the number with country code and no plus sign, for example https://wa.me/923001234567.

Which format should I download?

PNG is fine for screens and documents. SVG stays sharp at any size and is best for printing.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. The code is made in your browser.
