About this tool

Unix time counts the seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC. Many databases, APIs and log files store dates this way.

A number with 13 digits is treated as milliseconds and one with 10 digits as seconds. The date picker uses the time zone of your device.

Questions

Seconds or milliseconds?

Current timestamps have 10 digits in seconds and 13 digits in milliseconds. Any number of 12 digits or more is read as milliseconds, smaller numbers as seconds.

What time zone is used?

The UTC line is always UTC. The local line and the date picker use your device time zone.

What is the Year 2038 problem?

Systems that store Unix time in a signed 32-bit number overflow in January 2038. Modern 64-bit systems are not affected.
