About this tool
Essays, social posts, product descriptions and visa statements often have a word or character limit. This counter shows the numbers while you write, so you do not have to guess.
Words are groups of characters separated by spaces. Reading time assumes about 200 words a minute, and speaking time about 130 words a minute, which are typical averages for adults.
Your text is counted inside the page. It is never sent to a server, so you can paste private drafts.
Questions
How are words counted?
Any group of characters between spaces or line breaks counts as one word.
Does it work for Urdu text?
Yes. Urdu words are separated by spaces, so word and character counts work. Sentence counting also recognises the Urdu full stop.
How is reading time worked out?
The word count divided by 200 words per minute, rounded to whole minutes.
Is my text saved?
No. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere.
