About this tool

Websites, forms and social profiles often ask for pictures of a given size, such as 800 pixels wide. This tool changes the pixel size of one picture or a whole batch.

Setting only the width or only the height keeps the original proportions, so nothing looks stretched. The exact-size option lets you force both sides, which can distort the picture if the shape differs.

Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp. Making it much larger cannot add detail, so it will look soft. The output keeps the same type as the input: PNG stays PNG, WebP stays WebP and everything else becomes JPG.

Questions

Will resizing reduce the file size?

Usually yes, because fewer pixels need less data. For the smallest file also use the image compressor.

How do I keep the proportions?

Choose "Set the width" or "Set the height". The other side is calculated for you.

Can I enlarge a small picture?

You can, but the picture will look blurry because no new detail is created.

Is there a size limit?

Browsers can create images up to about 20000 pixels per side, and big sizes need a lot of memory.
