About this tool
PNG is a lossless format that works with transparency, editing programs and many design tools. Some software and print services ask for PNG, so a JPG needs to be converted first.
Converting a JPG to PNG does not restore detail the JPG has already lost. The picture looks the same, but the file usually becomes larger because PNG stores every pixel exactly.
If you only need to remove a background or add transparency, convert here and then edit the PNG in an image editor. The conversion runs in your browser and the file is never uploaded.
Questions
Will the PNG look better than my JPG?
No. It keeps exactly what the JPG shows, including any compression blur, but it will not lose more quality when you edit and save it again.
Why is the PNG file bigger?
PNG stores pixels without discarding detail, so photographs make larger files than JPG.
Does it add a transparent background?
No. The result has the same background as the JPG. Use an image editor to make parts transparent.
Is there a limit on the number of files?
No fixed limit. Your device memory is the practical limit.
