About this tool

PNG files are lossless, which makes them large. A screenshot or a photo saved as PNG is often five to ten times bigger than the same picture as a JPG, which matters when a form, email or website limits the file size.

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas of a PNG become white. If you need to keep the transparent background, keep the PNG or convert it to WebP instead.

Conversion happens in your browser. The quality slider controls the trade-off: lower values make smaller files but add visible blur around text and sharp edges. For logos, line art and text screenshots, PNG often stays the better choice.
